Angel Eyes
by William H. Bateman & Richard S. Sawyer

As I came around the final corner,
The scene opened up to the full view:
It was beyond my imagination,
A warm feeling filled all my glands,
Overhead and pumping,
An offshore breeze flying like a Pelican,
And peeling off the top of the walls
On all the lines curving into The Bay.

A million shattered mirrors on the horizon,
Drawing me closer to the ultimate source.
I thought of you as I slipped beyond myself
Down the peak and into the instinctual realm.
With primitive strokes I entered your kingdom
Knowing The Creator was in control as my
Endorphins squeeled at high pitch, and,
The energy morphed from the earth to me.

Conscious yet failing to fully connect,
The forced influx was pushing me deeper.
I suppressed my fear and strove with all me being
Sliding delicately under the curved curtain.
Still somewhat unsure but gaining confidence,
I balanced on the edge, watching the wonderful arc.
Clicking in slow motion over and beyond my position
As life’s secret is whispered in an angel’s eye . . .
