Sawyer & Bateman
Collaborative Poetry
In each poem William Henry Bateman started with the first line and Richard Sterling Sawyer wrote the second line, and so on, until a conclusion of poetic lines is reached, and a poem is created. Each line takes a minute, an hour, or sometimes days to respond with the next line. By knowing something about the person you are writing with, or knowing something about the subject you are writing about, together the minds reach certain unique and intersecting thoughts that when taken as a whole can be understood by both poets.
